Gaza death toll rises to 73,384, Palestinian Health Ministry says

Occupied Jerusalem, Aug. 8 (SANA)The death toll fromIsrael’s war on the Gaza Stripsince October 7, 2023, has risen to 73,384, while the number of injured reached 174,242, according to thePalestinian Ministry of Health.

In a statement posted on its Telegram channel on Saturday, the ministry said hospitals in the Gaza Strip received two fatalities and six injured people over the past 48 hours.

The ministry added that the total number of casualties since theceasefire on October10 reached 1,257 fatalities and 4,131 injuries, while 806 bodies had been recovered.

It noted that a number of victims remain trapped under the rubble and on the roads, as ambulance and civil defense teams continue to be unable to reach them.

The Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, which lasted for more than two years, has caused a majorhumanitarian catastropheamid the widespread destruction of homes and infrastructure and the collapse of essential services.

The humanitarian situation continues to deteriorate amidIsrael’s preventionof the entry of relief supplies and materials needed for reconstruction, despite the ceasefire agreement stipulating that such supplies should be allowed to enter without restrictions.
