First Jazeera Airways flight arrives at Deir Ezzor international airport from Kuwait
Deir Ezzor, Aug 8 (SANA)Deir Ezzor International Airport received the firstJazeera Airwaysflight fromKuwaitCity on Saturday morning, marking the launch of direct, regular flights between the two cities.Earlier ,President of the Syrian Civil Aviation Authority,Omar Hosari, said that the launch of the first direct Jazeera Airways flight between the State ofKuwaitand the city of Deir Ezzor on Saturday, is an important step that returns the Eastern city to the regional air transport map and strengthens the governorate’s connectivity with the broader Arab region.
Hosari added in a post on X that enhancing air connectivity withDeir Ezzoris not merely an operational objective, but a cornerstone for supporting development, facilitating citizen movement, and stiring economic and investment activities, given the governorate’s strategic importance.
Deir Ezzor International Airport was officially inaugurated in a ceremony held on August 5th. The airport received the first twoSyrian Airlines flights; a domestic flight from Damascus and an international flight from Kuwait, ending a suspension that lasted for many years.
PresidentAhmad al-Sharaaemphasized in a video link that this move embodies a profound transformation—turning a site once used to bombard cities and towns into a gateway that connects the governorate with its domestic and international surroundings.
