Damascus, Aug. 7 (SANA)Deputy Minister of Energy for Water and Electricity Affairs Osama Abu Zeid met on Friday with a delegation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to discuss mechanisms for technical cooperation and expertise exchange, as well as expanding reliance onrenewable energysources.

The meeting addressed the study of the energy mix and its importance in supporting and developing Syria’selectricity sectorto enhance the reliability of the national grid, according to theEnergy Ministrystatement.

The talks marked an important milestone in bilateral cooperation, with both sides emphasizing the importance of strengthening partnerships to meet the requirements of the coming phase and support development plans in theenergy sector, the statement added.

The Saudi delegation included Fouad Moussa, Advisor to the Minister of Energy and Supervisor of the International Projects Office; Faisal al-Daij, Deputy Minister for Renewable Energy; Mohammed Ba Warth, Advisor for the Petroleum and Gas Sector; and Abdulaziz al-Shahrani, Advisor for the Electricity Sector.

The meeting is part of ongoing cooperation between Syria and Saudi Arabia in the energy sector, with both countries seeking to strengthen economic and technical ties.Saudi Arabiahas been a key partner in supporting Syria’s recovery, with energy cooperation emerging as a priority area.

Syria is working to develop its electricity sector by expanding renewable energy capacity, improving network efficiency and reducing reliance on traditional fuel sources.
