Acting President Haxhiu: Suspicions of a second mass grave are a grievous reminder of crimes committed during the war
The Acting President of the Republic of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, has said that suspicions of a second mass grave are a grievous reminder of crimes committed during the war and evidence that justice has not yet been fully served.
“The extension of sovereignty and constitutional order to every part of the Republic of Kosovo has not only been an institutional obligation, but also a prerequisite for enabling the clarification of the fate of the forcibly disappeared, the discovery of mass graves and the return of the mortal remains of the victims to their families,” said Acting President Haxhiu.
She expressed her gratitude and full support for all institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, professional teams, forensic experts and all those who, with dedication and professionalism, are working to clarify the fate of the forcibly disappeared persons.
According to Acting President Haxhiu, their commitment is a valuable service to justice, truth and human dignity.
“Every discovered grave is a step towards the truth, but also proof that the wounds of war remain open until the last missing person is found and those responsible for these crimes are brought to justice”, emphasized the Acting President.
She further added that in these moments, we express our deepest solidarity with the families of the victims, who for more than two decades have been waiting to know the fate of their loved ones.
“The Republic of Kosovo remains committed to ensuring that the truth is fully revealed and the memory of the victims is honored with dignity”, said the Acting President Haxhiu.
