Brandstofprijzen blijven vooralsnog ongewijzigd
The government has decided to maintain the current fuel prices until further notice. Before a final decision is made on abandoning the price cap method, the government will hold further consultations with the various social groups.
It should be mentioned that the financial loss due to the price cap method amounts to more than SRD 350 million per month. According to calculations by the Ministry of Finance and Planning, this will amount to approximately SRD 3 billion if the government maintains the price cap.
The Director of Finance, Vincent Fernandes, stated that the oil companies have now been informed of the decision by the Ministry of Finance and Planning and have fully cooperated to normalize the situation.
In addition, it was noted that some retailers had temporarily closed their doors in response to previous reports. After consultation, they resumed their activities. Any further developments will be announced in a timely manner through the official communication channels.

De regering heeft besloten de huidige brandstofprijzen tot nader order te handhaven. Voordat een definitief besluit wordt genomen over het loslaten van de prijscapmethode, zal de regering verder overleg voeren met de verschillende maatschappelijke groeperingen. Vermeld dient te worden dat de financiële derving vanwege de prijscapmethode ruim SRD 350 miljoen per maand bedraagt. Volgens berekeningen van het ministerie van Financiën en Planning zal dit – indien de regering de prijscap aanhoudt – ongeveer SRD 3 miljard gaan bedragen. Door de directeur van Financiën, Vincent Fernandes, wordt meegedeeld dat de oliemaatschappijen inmiddels door het ministerie van Financiën en Planning op de hoogte zijn gesteld van het besluit en hun volledige medewerking hebben verleend om de situatie te normaliseren. Daarnaast is geconstateerd dat enkele retailers naar aanleiding van eerdere berichtgeving tijdelijk hun deuren hadden gesloten. Na overleg hebben zij hun activiteiten weer hervat. Eventuele verdere ontwikkelingen zullen tijdig via de officiële communicatiekanalen worden bekendgemaakt.
