These included initiatives to strengthen the identification of narcotics and drug users, enhance facilities for drug detection and enforcement operations, expand rehabilitation services and upgrade the Kallady Police Training Center into a Police Rehabilitation Center. Attention was also given to counseling programs for individuals who voluntarily seek rehabilitation and for their families. We further discussed the construction of permanent buildings for the proposed Police Headquarters and other police stations, the procurement of new vehicles for the Sri Lanka Police, the Police digitalisation programme, the modernization of police uniforms, improvements to infrastructure at the Police Hospital, and welfare initiatives aimed at addressing health issues arising from the demanding nature of police duties. I emphasized the need to accelerate the modernization and development of the Sri Lanka Police to deliver a more efficient and high-quality service to the public. I also stressed the importance of securing the active participation of all stakeholders in the Government's "A Nation United" national operation to eliminate the drug menace, upgrading facilities at existing rehabilitation centers, and ensuring effective coordination among rehabilitation institutions operating under different ministries by bringing them together under a well-coordinated national program.
