Press Release Unofficial Translation The Spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defense of the Kingdom of Cambodia, would like to inform the general public as well as members of national and international media outlets as follows: On Thursday, 06 August 2026, at 08:30 a.m., the Cambodian Liaison Group (CLG) of the Kingdom of Cambodia facilitated the participation of the ASEAN Observer Team, Cambodia (AOT-KH), to observe, verify, and report on the border situation in the areas of North Sra'aem Village, Sra'aem Commune, Choam Ksan District, Preah Vihear Province, which is a residential area inhabitants. Please also note that the above location is not a military site, but rather the homes where innocent civilians live, which was attacked by the Thai military forces in December 2025 through bombings by F-16 fighter jets and the firing of multiple 155mm artillery shells, resulting in severe destruction and damage to people's homes, personal property, and numerous civilian infrastructures. At the same time, Cambodia has consistently provided its full support to the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) and has emphasized the indispensable importance of strengthening the role and mandate of the AOT in order to verify and ensure the full and effective implementation of the ceasefire, to promote transparency, accountability, and mutual trust. The Royal Government and the Ministry of National Defense of Cambodia reaffirm our firm, sincere, and unwavering commitment to fully and faithfully respect and implement the Joint Statement of the Third Special Meeting of the Cambodia – Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) on December 27, 2025, the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand on October 26, 2025, and all other relevant agreements. This commitment is made with the aim of ensuring rapid recovery and restoring normalcy, and long-lasting peace and stability.
