Six killed, dozens injured in Russian strikes across Ukraine
Kyiv, Aug. 6 (SANA)At least six people were killed and dozens injured on Thursday in Russian drone attacks targeting several regions ofUkraine, Ukrainian authorities said, as the war continued to take a heavy toll on civilians.
Three people were killed and homes and other property were damaged in a Russian drone strike on the city of Balakliia in the northeastern Kharkiv region, Ukraine’s State Emergency Service said, according to the Ukrainian News Agency.
In a separate attack, three people were killed and at least 21 others injured overnight in strikes on residential areas in the northern Sumy region, Ukrainian police said in a statement posted on Telegram, according to Reuters.
Authorities in the southern Kherson region said six more people were injured after a drone struck a van.
The latest attacks come as diplomatic efforts to end the war remain deadlocked, with hostilities continuing despite repeated international calls for de-escalation.
Separately, theEuropean Commissionsaid on Wednesday it would allocate 1.4 billion euros ($1.6 billion) generated from interest on frozen Russian assets held in the European Union to support Ukraine in its war against Russia.
