Trump says U.S. has ample munitions as Iran talks make progress

Washington, Aug. 6 (SANA)U.S. President DonaldTrumpsaid on Thursday that theUnited Stateshas ample stockpiles of munitions and is expanding domestic defense production, while describing ongoing talks with Iran as “very good” but warning that military action remains an option if diplomacy fails.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said the United States has “massive quantities” of munitions and that additional supplies are being produced and delivered as needed.

He added thatU.S. defensecontractors are building more manufacturing plants and production facilities than at any other time in the country’s history as Washington seeks to strengthen its military industrial capacity.

Trump’s comments came after CNN reported on Tuesday that theU.S. militaryhad used about 80% of its Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) interceptor missiles, one of the country’s principal missile defense systems.

Speaking at an economic event in Las Vegas on Wednesday evening, Trump reiterated that he preferred reaching an agreement with Iran but said the use of military force remained an option if diplomatic efforts failed.

In separate remarks toFox News, Trump said the United States was holding “very good talks” with Iran while reiterating that Washington would not allow Tehran to acquire a nuclear weapon.

He also warned that Iran would face “a very hard” strike if theStrait of Hormuzis not reopened “very soon.”
