Latakia, Aug.5 (SANA)TheSyria Summer Festival 2026 for familiesopened Tuesday evening atAl-Orouba Park in Latakia,organized by the Directorate of Culture in cooperation with civil society associations, with broad official and public attendance.

The festival, held under the patronage of theMinistry of Culture and Latakia Governorate, will continue until 10 August and includes a range ofactivities for families and children.

The program features theatrical and film performances, artistic and educational workshops, interactive games, and sections dedicated to Syrian folk heritage andtraditional handicrafts.

The activities aim to strengthen local cultural identity and connect younger generations with their cultural roots through educational and creative programs.

Latakia Culture Director Dr. Ahmad Shreiki told SANA that the festival seeks to “build a safe and creative generation for Syria’s future through a cultural environment that addresses children’s minds, nurtures their imagination and supports their role as a basic element in building society.”

He added that the festival began in Idlib and moved to Latakia before continuing in other provinces, noting the wide public turnout and the community’s need for cultural activities that engage thought and creativity.

Raghad Hassino from the Gheras team said her group is participating in the festival through activities introducing Syrian heritage and reviving elements that have faded over recent decades, particularly the tangible and intangible heritage of the coastal region.

Visitor Donia Bahlawan expressed appreciation for the diversity of the festival’s activities and the wide participation of civil society associations.

The Syria Summer Festival 2026 is being held by the Ministry of Culture in Damascus and eight other provinces as part of anational programaimed at revitalizing cultural and social activities and making family-oriented cultural events accessible across Syria.
