Tecnificación Nacional de Riego promueve inversión extranjera en agricultura y riego
SantoDomingo.-The Executive Directorate of National Irrigation Technology (TNR) showed ProChiley representatives of the Irrigation and Drainage Union Association (Agryd) the investment and collaboration opportunities that exist in the irrigation sector of the Dominican Republic, during a virtual meeting aimed at exchanging experiences and technical knowledge.
The presentation was given by Claudio Caamaño Vélez, director of the TNR, who highlighted the potential of the Dominican agricultural sector as a strategic platform to strengthen cooperation between producers, companies from Chile and the Dominican Republic, in order to identify opportunities for Chilean companies to contribute their technical capabilities and experience, in alliance with national companies, contributing to the development and modernization of the agricultural sector.
Likewise, he emphasized the possibility of Chilean producers and investors establishing agricultural projects in the country, taking advantage of the advantages offered by the climatic conditions, geographical diversity and preferential access to international markets through the free trade agreements available to the Dominican Republic, thus favoring greater competitiveness and the sustainable growth of agricultural production.
In his speech, the head of TNR presented the operation of the Registry of Authorized Suppliers, a tool through which the TNR certifies and enables companies that provide equipment, inputs and services linked to the modernization of irrigation and sustainable agriculture; In addition, alternatives were analyzed to strengthen technical capacities linked to the installation of modern irrigation systems in Dominican territory.
Caamaño Vélez highlighted that this mechanism strengthens the transparency of institutional processes, guarantees quality standards for suppliers and generates greater confidence among producers who participate in programs promoted by the institution such as the National Irrigation Technique Promotion Fund (Fotesir).
In the virtual meeting, Chilean suppliers and producers also learned about the Dominican experience in areas such as irrigation systems, hydraulic infrastructure, agricultural automation, renewable energies and other technologies aimed at optimizing the use of water resources in the countryside. Likewise, they expressed their interest in visiting the country before the end of the year.
This meeting with ProChiley of the Irrigation and Drainage Union Association (Agryd) is part of the TNR's international cooperation strategy to strengthen institutional capacities, promote innovation and consolidate alliances that contribute to the development of the Dominican agricultural sector and the goal country.

En su intervención, el titular de TNR presentó el funcionamiento delRegistro de Suplidores Autorizados,herramienta mediante la cual la TNRcertifica y habilitaempresas proveedoras de equipos, insumos y servicios vinculados a la tecnificación del riego y a la agricultura sostenible; ademásse analizaron alternativas para fortalecer las capacidades técnicas vinculadas a la instalación desistemas de riego modernosen territorio dominicano. Caamaño Vélez destacó que este mecanismo fortalece latransparenciade los procesos institucionales, garantizaestándares de calidadpara los suplidores y genera mayor confianza entre los productores que participan en programas impulsados por la institución como elFondo de Fomento a la Tecnificación Nacional de Riego(Fotesir). En el encuentro virtual, los suplidores y productores chilenos conocieron, además, laexperiencia dominicanaen áreas como sistemas de riego, infraestructura hidráulica, automatización agrícola,energías renovables y otras tecnologíasdestinadas aoptimizarel uso del recurso hídrico en el campo. Igualmente, manifestaron su interés de visitar al país antes de que finalice el año.
