Emiliano Fernández Almazán, a student at the Universidad Veracruzana, won the gold medal in the 33rd International Mathematics Competition for University Students (IMC) in Bulgaria, achieving the best historical result for Mexico in the competition. With a score of 80 units that placed him between 6th and 9th in the general classification among 453 participants from 47 countries, the young man from Veracruz surpassed the previous marks of the national delegations in the tournament.
