Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi Visits the Federal Board of Supreme Audit and Chairs a Joint Meeting with the Federal Integrity Commission ••••• Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi visited today, Tuesday, the headquarters of the Federal Board of Supreme Audit, where he chaired a joint meeting attended by the President of the Federal Board of Supreme Audit, the Chairman of the Federal Integrity Commission, and the Minister of Finance. The meeting focused on mechanisms to strengthen preventive oversight, protect public funds, and develop procedures for auditing government contracts. The Prime Minister affirmed that responsibility requires serious work, effective delivery, and the fulfillment of duties to the highest standard, stressing that everyone must assume their legal and national responsibilities. The Prime Minister directed that the principle of auditing contracts before they are signed be adopted as a preventive measure to address problems before they arise, as it provides institutional safeguards. He called on the Federal Board of Supreme Audit and the Federal Integrity Commission to serve as the watchful eye of the state in identifying and addressing vulnerabilities before they develop into problems or corruption cases. In this regard, the Prime Minister directed the formation of a specialized team from the Federal Board of Supreme Audit to undertake the prior auditing of contracts within a period not exceeding ten working days. He also directed that the thresholds and values of contracts subject to this type of audit be determined in a manner that ensures both swift procedures and effective oversight. Prime Minister Al-Zaidi also stressed that government contracts must be legally and technically sound and based on fair and reasonable prices. He noted that inflated costs constitute one of the most significant avenues for corruption and must therefore be addressed firmly, while ensuring that projects are implemented in accordance with the specifications and quality standards stipulated in the contracts. The Prime Minister called for fostering a preventive mindset in oversight work alongside the traditional oversight role. He affirmed that the Federal Board of Supreme Audit and the Federal Integrity Commission represent the shield of the state in protecting public funds and safeguarding citizens’ rights. He stressed that this constitutes both a national and moral responsibility. The Prime Minister underscored the importance of keeping the Federal Board of Supreme Audit free from any political considerations or quota-based arrangements and ensuring that competence, integrity, professionalism, and impartiality remain the fundamental standards governing its work.
