Le Président Évariste Ndayishimiye appelle à l’unité nationale et à une gouvernance exemplaire en hommage au Lieutenant-Général Adolphe Nshimirimana.
The President of the Republic of Burundi and current President of the African Union His Excellency Evariste Ndayishimiye, received in audience on Tuesday at the Ntare Rushatsi Palace a strong delegation led by Mr. Mahamadou Issoufou, former President of Niger and Champion of the African Continental Free Trade Area.
This personality first praised the leadership of President Ndayishimiye at the head of his country and the African Union before reassuring that Burundi will be able to achieve its vision, which coincides with that of this institution adopted by the Heads of State in 2013.
The discussions then focused on the evaluation of the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area, with particular emphasis on the signing, ratification and effective application of the protocols essential to the acceleration of the economic integration of the continent.
They also took stock of the implementation of the protocol on goods, intellectual property, digital technology, women and young people, investments, before reassuring that things are developing positively.
Reaffirming his commitment to African integration, President Ndayishimiye pledged his full support to efforts aimed at overcoming the challenges facing the AfCFTA in order to make it a real lever of growth and prosperity for Africa.

Mahamadou Issoufou, ancien Président du Niger et Champion de la Zone Libre d’Echanges continentale africaine. Cette personnalité a d’abord salué le leadership du Président Ndayishimiye à la tête de son pays et de l’Union Africaine avant de rassurer que le Burundi pourra atteindre sa vision, qui coïncide avec celle de cette institution adopté par les Chefs d’Etats en 2013. Les échanges ont ensuite porté sur l’évaluation de la mise en œuvre de la Zone de libre échange continentale africaine, avec un accent particulier sur la signature, la ratification et l’application effective des protocoles indispensables à l’accélération de l’intégration économique du continent. Ils ont également fait le point sur la mise en œuvre du protocole sur les marchandises, la propriété intellectuelle, le numérique, les femmes et les jeunes, les investissements, avant de rassurer que les choses évoluent positivement. Réaffirmant son engagement en faveur de l’intégration africaine, le Président Ndayishimiye a promis son plein soutien aux efforts visant à lever les défis auxquels fait face la ZLECAF afin d’en faire un véritable levier de croissance et de prospérité pour l’Afrique.
