Presidente Abinader entrega reconocimientos del Indotel a más de 170 estudiantes destacados en el concurso “Buscamos el Talento del Futuro”
Santo Domingo.–This Tuesday, President Luis Abinader presented awards to more than 170 students from 25 provinces of the country who were highlighted in the “We Search for the Talent of the Future” contest, an initiative that promotes vocations in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), where sixth-grade high school students from polytechnics throughout the country presented innovative solutions to face challenges in the Dominican Republic, promoting critical thinking, creativity and innovation.
During the event, held in the Juan Bosch auditorium of the Pedro Henríquez Ureña National Library, the president of the Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (Indotel), Guido Gómez Mazara, highlighted the importance of training in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) to prepare young people for the new demands of the labor market and digital transformation.
Gómez Mazara affirmed that training and preparation are essential tools to overcome barriers and create opportunities, while urging young people to stay focused on their goals and become leaders in their communities.
He also highlighted that in less than two years of Indotel's management, 130,000 technological equipment has been distributed throughout the national territory, as part of the efforts to expand digital inclusion and strengthen training opportunities.
The official valued President Luis Abinader's commitment to the development of young talent and assured that these initiatives demonstrate the potential of Dominican youth.
During the activity, the students who presented the most outstanding proposals were recognized, evidencing their ability to apply scientific and technological knowledge to the solution of real problems.
In recognition of their effort, creativity and performance, the selected students received state-of-the-art laptop computers, tools that will contribute to strengthening their academic training, expanding access to technological resources and continuing to develop digital skills.
The contest was developed by the Telecommunications Development Fund (FDT), an Indotel mechanism aimed at promoting projects that promote access to technologies, digital inclusion and the development of technological capabilities for the benefit of the Dominican population.

Ashley Jiménez, representing the winning students of the “We Search for the Talent of the Future” contest, thanked President Luis Abinader, Indotel and its President of the Board of Directors, Guido Gómez Mazara, for betting on young talent and creating opportunities that promote innovation and learning.
The student highlighted that the tools received represent a door to new opportunities to develop their capabilities, transform ideas into solutions and contribute, from science and technology, to the future of the Dominican Republic.
The initiative, promoted by Darian Vargas, impacted more than 170 students from 25 provinces of the country and was designed to encourage interest in STEM disciplines through an experience that integrated innovation, creativity and responsible use of technology. As part of the process, the participants prepared and disseminated videos on social networks with proposals aimed at contributing to the development of the country through science and technology.
With the “We Search for the Talent of the Future” contest, Indotel reaffirms its commitment to promoting young talent, reducing the digital divide and strengthening human capital, contributing to the training of a new generation of leaders capable of promoting innovation and technological transformation in the Dominican Republic.
