Four killed, 20 injured in traffic accidents and fires across Syria over past 24 hours

Damascus, Aug. 4 (SANA)Four people were killed and 20 others injured intraffic accidentsand fires during the past 24 hours across Syria, after emergency teams from the Syrian Civil Defense responded to incidents in several provinces, the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management said.

TheSyrian Civil Defensesaid Tuesday through its Telegram channel that its teams responded to 19 traffic accidents, which resulted in injuries to 14 civilians.

Emergency responders provided first aid at the scenes before transferring the injured to hospitals for further treatment. Teams also secured accident locations and removed remaining hazards.

The Civil Defense advised motorists to reduce speed, ensure vehicles are in good technical condition, check braking systems and windshield wipers, and avoid distractions while driving, including mobile phone use.

Separately, Syrian Civil Defense teams responded to 160fires across Syria, including four fires affecting fields and agricultural crops and 156 separate incidents involving homes, commercial premises, vegetation, trees, garbage and electrical wiring.

Firefighters extinguished the fires and carried out cooling operations at affected sites.

The fires resulted in four fatalities and injuries to two firefighters and four civilians.Emergency teamsprovided first aid before transferring the injured to hospitals for medical treatment.

The Civil Defense called on residents to avoid starting fires in forested areas and agricultural fields, and urged people not to throw cigarette butts or glass bottles along roadsides, particularly near farmland and wooded areas.

It also advised residents to avoid burning dry vegetation around homes or along roads, recommending that it be removed through safe methods instead.
