Syria, UAE re-establish joint Business Council to boost economic cooperation

Abu Dhabi, August 4 (SANA)Syrian Minister of Economy and Industry Mohammad Nidal al-Shaar said Tuesday that restructuring the Syrian-UAE Business Council would support expanded economic cooperation and investment partnerships between Syria and the United Arab Emirates.

The Ministry of Economy and Industrysaid on its Telegram channel that the announcement was made during a meeting between al-Shaar and UAE Minister of State for Foreign TradeThani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudiin Abu Dhabi.

Al-Shaarwelcomed the restructuring of the council, describing it as a platform to enhance economic cooperation and activate the role of the private sector in developing trade and investment partnerships.

He said Syria seeks to use the step to expand areas of cooperation, increase trade exchange and attract investments that support development and reconstruction efforts.

Al-Shaar added that the council reflects Syria and the UAE’s interest in expanding economic cooperation and strengthening partnerships between business communities.

The Syrian minister said the Ministry of Economy and Industry aims for the council to contribute to attracting investments in key sectors, including agriculture, industry, logistics, energy, infrastructure, technology and financial services.

The Syrian side of the Syrian-UAE Business Council was established in June through a decision issued by Minister al-Shaar, as part of efforts to advance economic and investment cooperation between Syria and the UA
