Doha, Aug. 4 (SANA)Qatar reaffirmed its full support for efforts to reduce regional tensions and achieve peace and stability, stressing that dialogue and diplomacy remain essential to resolving regional crises.

According to the Qatar News Agency (QNA), Qatari Foreign MinisterMohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, during a telephone conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Tuesday, underscored the need to implement the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, including guaranteeing freedom of navigation in theStrait of Hormuzto enhance regional security and stability.

The two ministers also reviewed bilateral relations and discussed regional developments, with a focus on diplomatic coordination to reduce escalation. On Sunday, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Kuwait similarly emphasized the importance of dialogue, diplomacy, and implementing the memorandum’s provisions.

In a separate statement, Qatari Foreign Ministry spokespersonMajed bin Mohammed al-Ansarisaid Doha continues intensive diplomatic efforts with regional and international partners to prevent escalation, stressing that freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz serves the interests of all countries in the region and rejecting any attempt to politicize the waterway.

On Gaza, al-Ansari said mediators have stressed the need to expedite implementation of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement linked to US President Donald Trump’s plan, noting that the Palestinian side has fully complied with the agreement. He called on Israel to meet its commitments, including withdrawing from theGaza Stripand complying with international law, and urged the international community to press for implementation of the agreement and an end to attacks.
