Reciprocal Russian-Ukrainian strikes kill eight in Moscow region and Sumy

Moscow, Aug.4 (SANA)Eight people, including two children, were killed in reciprocal Russian and Ukrainian attacks over the past several hours, marking the latest escalation in the conflict as both sides continued long-range strikes.According to Agence France-Presse (AFP), Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyov said a Ukrainian drone attack on an industrial zone in Chekhov, outside Moscow, sparked fires at an industrial site in Novoselki, killing five people and injuring six others.In Russia’s Leningrad region, Wildberries (online market) said a drone strike caused a fire at one of its logistics facilities. Regional Governor Alexander Drozdenko said air defenses intercepted 17 drones, although damage was reported near one warehouse.Meanwhile, Ukrainian authorities said two children and an elderly man were killed in overnight Russian strikes on the Sumy region.Sumy Regional Governor Oleh Hryhorov said rescue teams recovered the bodies of two girls from the rubble of their home. Separately, the Kherson Military Administration reported that a 52-year-old man was injured in a Russian strike on the city.The latest attacks come amid an intensification of long-range strikes by both sides in recent days, with oil facilities, ports, ships and logistics centers increasingly targeted inside both Russia and Ukraine, indicating a broader expansion of cross-border military operations.R.D/RK
