Amman, Aug. 4 (SANA)Jordanian Senate President Faisal al-Fayez said on Monday that relations betweenJordanandSyriaare at their strongest point in history, describing them as a strategic partnership built on shared security and economic interests.

According to Jordan’s Petra News Agency, al-Fayez said Jordan has become one of Syria’s closest regional partners, citing the establishment of the Jordanian-Syrian Higher Coordination Council in 2025. The council has since held meetings in both Amman and Damascus with the participation of ministers from the two countries.

He said bilateral relations have entered a new phase focused on partnership, integration and cooperation based on mutual interests.

Separately, al-Fayez said Iranian attacks on Jordan and Gulf Arab states constitute a violation of international law and the United Nations Charter, adding that Jordan faces unprecedented security challenges as a result of the regional escalation.

He reiterated that Jordan would not become an arena for regional conflict or allow its territory to be used to launch attacks against any brotherly or friendly country, reaffirming Amman’s commitment to the principles of good-neighborly relations and non-interference in the internal affairs of other states.

Al-Fayez also called for strengthening the joint Arab security and defense framework to safeguard the sovereignty and security of Arab states against regional and international interference.

He urged the international community to work to halt Iranian attacks in the region, uphold international law and support political solutions to regional conflicts in accordance with international legitimacy.

Jordan has repeatedly called for regional and international efforts to de-escalate tensions, address the underlying causes of the crisis, ensure freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea, and promote lasting security and stability.
