Damascus, Aug. 4 (SANA)Syria’s border crossings withTürkiyeandLebanonhave recorded increased passenger movement since the beginning of 2026, with hundreds of thousands of travelers crossing through the Tal Abyad and Jousieh crossings, including Syrians returning voluntarily to the country, according to border authorities.

TheTal Abyad bordercrossing betweenSyriaand Türkiye recorded the passage of around 100,000 travelers since the start of the year, including 14,000 displaced Syrians who returned voluntarily, the General Authority for Borders and Customs said on Tuesday.

The authority said the figures reflect growing movement through the crossing and improved procedures for managing passenger flows and providing services. It added that Tal Abyad has maintained steady activity, receiving travelers and returnees through streamlined procedures designed to facilitate border movement.

Previous data showed that around 75,000 travelers crossed Tal Abyad during the first half of 2026, including 45,000 arrivals to Syria and 30,000 departures. Around 12,000 Syrians returned voluntarily through the crossing during the same period.

Meanwhile, theJousieh border crossingbetween Syria and Lebanon recorded around 625,000 travelers since the beginning of 2026, including approximately 150,000 Syrian citizens who returned voluntarily, according to theGeneral Authority for Borders and Customs.

The authority said Jousieh has implemented streamlined administrative procedures and enhanced services to facilitate travel formalities, support return movements and ensure smooth passenger flows.

Data released earlier showed that 522,000 travelers crossed Jousieh during the first half of 2026, including 331,000 arrivals to Syria and 191,000 departures.

The authorities said they are continuing efforts to improve border crossing operations by simplifying procedures, strengthening staff capacity and upgrading services to support passenger movement, trade and transport links between Syria and neighboring countries.kA.ABD
