Cairo, Aug. 3 (SANA)SeniorMiddle Eastofficials stepped up diplomatic efforts on Sunday to contain regional tensions, with Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait emphasizing dialogue and political solutions amid renewed efforts to prevent further escalation.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelattyheld separate phone calls with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign MinisterSheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani,Iraqi Foreign MinisterFuad HusseinandU.S.Middle East envoySteve Witkoff,according to Egypt’s Foreign Ministry.

During the discussions, the officials stressed the need to intensify diplomatic efforts, return to negotiations and prioritize political solutions in accordance with international law. They also underscored the importance of preventing further escalation and resolving regional crises through peaceful means to strengthen security and stability.

In his call with Witkoff, Abdelatty highlighted the need for continued international and regional coordination to contain tensions, saying diplomacy remains the only viable path to lasting peace and stability. He also called for greater efforts to support ongoing de-escalation initiatives across the region.

The talks also covered developments in the Palestinian territories. Abdelatty stressed the importance of implementing the first phase of U.S. President Donald Trump’s Gaza plan to facilitate the full delivery of humanitarian aid and prepare for subsequent stages.

Separately, the foreign ministers of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Kuwait reaffirmed the importance of dialogue and diplomacy during consultations earlier Sunday. They also called for implementation of the U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding to safeguard freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and support regional stability.

Jordanian Foreign MinisterAyman Safadiand Abdelatty also discussed regional developments in a separate phone call, reaffirming their countries’ support for diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions.

According to Jordan’s Petra News Agency, the ministers stressed that dialogue remains essential to restoring calm, addressing the underlying causes of regional instability and ensuring freedom of navigation through both the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea.

The ministers also reviewed developments in the Palestinian territories, emphasizing the importance of implementing all phases of President Trump’s Gaza plan.

Safadi and Abdelatty warned against what they described as illegal Israeli measures in the West Bank and actions affecting holy sites in Jerusalem, calling on the international community to help prevent further escalation and safeguard regional and international peace and security.
