Santo Domingo.-The Governments of the Dominican Republic and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela reported that, as a result of the dialogue held between both parties, they have agreed to begin a process of gradual normalization of their diplomatic and consular relations, based on a roadmap that will be developed by common agreement.

The implementation of this roadmap will include, in a first stage, the adoption of the necessary measures for the reestablishment of consular services and, subsequently, the progress towards normalization of diplomatic relations, according to the schedule that both parties agree upon.

This decision responds to the shared interest of strengthening institutional communication channels, for the benefit of the nationals of both countries and the historical ties of friendship that unite the Dominican Republic and Venezuela.

Both nations thus reaffirm their will to conduct this process through dialogue, mutual respect and adherence to the principles of international law.
