Sanchez. – With the objective of consolidating the province of Samaná as a reference for culinary tourism in the Dominican Republic, the Ministry of Tourism announced the celebration of the gastronomic festival "Saborea el Paraíso Sánchez", on August 8 and 9.

The historic Railway Ruins in the old port of Sánchez will be the epicenter of a great cultural festival that will pay tribute to the region's star product: Sánchez shrimp.

Recognized for its unmatched flavor and freshness, qualities derived from the unique ecosystem that is formed where the mighty Yuna River flows into the Bay of Samaná, the shrimp will be the great protagonist of this day.

For two days, the initiative seeks to boost the local economy and value the close relationship that, for generations, this coastal municipality has maintained with the sea and fishing.

The event will be a showcase for the local gastronomic offer and will guarantee an immersive experience for the most demanding palates. In addition, the festival programming will display a wide route of flavors.

Residents and visitors will have tastings and a variety of dishes prepared by restaurants, traditional chefs and entrepreneurs in the area at their disposal.

The highlight of the event will be the contest to choose the best shrimp-based dish from Sánchez, a platform designed to give visibility to the high talent of the community's chefs. Through this contest, participants will present authentic and innovative recipes, inspired by this flagship ingredient, demonstrating the gastronomic potential of the destination.
