Two killed, 32 injured in road accidents and fires across Syria in 24 hours

Damascus, Aug. 3 (SANA)Two people were killed and 32 others injured over the past 24 hours inroad accidentsand fires across several Syrian provinces, theSyrian Civil Defensesaid on Monday.

Civil Defense teams responded to 23 road accidents that left two people dead and 26 others injured.

Teams provided first aid, transported the injured to hospitals and secured the accident scenes.

The Civil Defense urged motorists to slow down, ensure their vehicles are in good mechanical condition, check brakes and windshield wipers, and avoid distractions while driving, particularly the use of mobile phones.

Separately, firefighters responded to 191firesacross the country, including six agricultural fires and 185 separate incidents affecting homes, commercial premises, dry vegetation, trees, waste and electrical infrastructure.

The fires injured one firefighter and five civilians, all of whom received first aid before being taken to hospitals.

The Civil Defense renewed its appeal for the public to avoid lighting fires in forests and agricultural areas, refrain from discarding cigarette butts or glass bottles near vegetation, and remove dry vegetation around homes and roadsides using safe methods to reduce wildfire risks.

The latest incidents followed similar road accidents and fires two days earlier that left 25 people injured across Syria.
