Syria’s interior minister, missing persons chief discuss mass graves investigations
Damascus, Aug. 3 (SANA)Syrian Interior Minister Anas Khattab and Mohammad Reda Jalkhi, head of the National Commission forMissing Personsdiscussed plans on Monday to establish a joint mechanism for investigating mass graves and advancing efforts to determine the fate of missing persons.
According to theInterior Ministry, the meeting focused on strengthening coordination between the ministry and the commission as part of a national framework for locating, investigating and documentingmass graves.
The officials also discussed the use of modern forensic technologies to help identify human remains, as well as preparations for a comprehensive national action plan involving all relevant institutions.
Khattab and Jalkhi stressed the importance of coordinated institutional efforts to make progress in the humanitarian task of identifying missing persons and supporting the rights of their families.
