Türkiye says Israeli strikes undermine Gaza peace efforts
Ankara, Aug. 3 (SANA)Türkiyesaid on Monday that continuedIsraeli strikeson theGaza Stripshow Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government is not committed to lasting peace and is undermining diplomatic efforts to stabilize the region.
In a statement, theTurkish Ministry of Foreign Affairssaid the killing of more than 30 civilians and strikes on healthcare facilities in Gaza, following agreement on a roadmap to accelerate implementation of the Gaza peace plan, showed that theIsraeli governmentlacked a genuine commitment to peace with thePalestinian people.
The ministry stressed thatNetanyahu’s governmentis seeking to displace Palestinians from their homeland while obstructing initiatives aimed at achieving lasting peace and regional stability. It also said Israeli actions were undermining mediation efforts, particularly those led by the United States.
Türkiye called on the international community to adopt a firmer stance towardIsraeli policiesand urged countries supporting peace and regional stability to act in accordance with international law and humanitarian principles.
According to thePalestinian Health Ministry, Israeli ceasefire violations since a ceasefire took effect on Oct. 10 have killed 1,230 Palestinians and injured 4,076 others, in addition to arrests, military incursions and destruction across the Gaza Strip.
