Occupied Jerusalem, Aug. 2 (SANA)The Palestinian Ministry of Health warned Saturday thatGaza‘s healthcare system is facing an unprecedented crisis amid escalating Israeli actions, calling for urgent international intervention to facilitate the delivery of medicines and humanitarian aid, establish safe humanitarian corridors, and protect medical facilities and personnel.

In a statement,the ministrydescribed the health sector as entering “the most critical phase in its history” amid Israel’s ongoing military campaign in Gaza, increased settler attacks in theoccupied West Bank, and the financial crisis facing the Palestinian government as a result of Israel’s withholding of Palestinian funds.

The ministry said Gaza’s healthcare system is operating under extremely difficult humanitarian and medical conditions, citing repeated attacks on hospitals and healthcare centers, together with severe shortages of medicines, medical supplies, equipment and fuel.

It called on United Nations agencies, human rights organizations and humanitarian institutions to intensify efforts and press Israel to ensure the entry of essential medical supplies and humanitarian assistance into the Gaza Strip.

Palestinian Health Minister Majed Abu Ramadan said the continued denial of medical treatment to patients, restrictions on the delivery of medical supplies, and attacks on healthcare facilities and personnel constitute a serious violation of international humanitarian law and require urgent action beyond statements of condemnation.

In May, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) warned that Gaza’s healthcare system was under immense pressure and faced the risk of critical medical and service equipment shutting down because of restrictions on the entry of essential supplies and maintenance materials.
