Syrian minister, Turkish seed company discuss agricultural investment
Damascus, Aug. 2 (SANA)Syrian Minister of Agriculture Basil al-Suwaidan met on Sunday with a delegation from the Turkish seed company Barut, led by Mahmoud Barut, to discuss agricultural investment and seed development.
The two sides discussed the supply of high-yield seeds, agricultural marketing and the evaluation of the soft wheat variety “Serince” under technical standards designed to protect farmers and ensure quality.
Al-Suwaidansaid the ministry is preparing a memorandum of understanding between the General Organization for Seed Multiplication and Barut to introduce modern farming and irrigation technologies, with the ministry overseeing implementation.
He also outlined plans to restructure state agricultural production institutions into holding companies that would partner with the private sector and invited the company to participate in theDamascus International Fair.
Mahmoud Barut said the company is committed to developing improved crop varieties and drawing on its two decades of experience to support Syria’s food security and agricultural development.
