Amman, Aug. 2 (SANA)Jordan’s KingAbdullah IIheld a phone call on Sunday with Bahrain’s KingHamad bin Isa Al Khalifato discuss efforts to de-escalate regional tensions and reach a comprehensive calm that restores security and stability to the region, according to the Jordanian news agency Petra.

The two leaders stressed their rejection of Iranian attacks onJordan,Bahrainand a number of Arab states, the agency reported.

King Abdullah also stressed the need to halt ongoing Israeli attacks on Palestinians in theWest Bank, warning against exploiting the region’s situation as a pretext to impose a new fait accompli in Jerusalem and the West Bank.

The call comes amid regional and international efforts to contain escalation and reduce tensions following PresidentDonald Trump‘s decision to suspend a planned military attack onIranthis week.

Regional mediation efforts involving Qatar, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have intensified to prevent the expansion of confrontation and return to dialogue, according to CNN.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman also held a phone call with President Trump, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing diplomatic solutions and de-escalation to preserveregional securityand stability.
