Damascus, Aug. 2 (SANA)Foreign companies participating in the “Motor Show 2026” saidSyria‘s automotive market is entering a new phase of recovery, citing growing investment opportunities and renewed confidence in the country’s economic and industrial outlook.

The 14th International Motor Show for Automobiles, Spare Parts, and Maintenance has brought together local and international companies to showcase new products and explore business opportunities in Syria’s automotive sector.

Amir al-Darwish, general manager of a Chinese automotive company, said the firm’s participation reflects its confidence in the recovery of Syria’s automotive market and its potential to attract new investment.

He said the company currently represents seven Chinese automotive brands, including Chery, Arrizo, Tiggo, and other affiliated brands, adding that it is studying several projects, including the establishment of a vehicle assembly plant in Syria.

Al-Darwish said visitor turnout during the exhibition’s opening days had been strong despite high temperatures, describing it as an indication of renewed consumer interest and confidence in the market.

Mohammad Doulati, director of a Turkish manufacturer specializing in brake linings, said the exhibition marks the company’s first participation in a Syrian trade fair.

He said the company established a manufacturing facility in Syria after more than 15 years of experience in producing truck brake linings, citing confidence in the country’s industrial recovery and long-term market potential.

According to Doulati, the company aims to transfer Turkish and European industrial expertise to Syria while supplying high-quality products to the domestic market.

Majd Doumani, marketing director of a German company specializing in professional cleaning equipment, said the exhibition is the company’s first appearance in Syria.

He said the event provides an opportunity to introduce advanced vehicle cleaning technologies and reflects improving conditions for international companies seeking to expand investment and economic cooperation in Syria.

Talal Abdulbaqi, executive director of a joint French-Chinese automotive group, described Syria as a promising market with significant growth potential after years of limited activity.

He said the group aims to provide products and services that meet international standards, including after-sales support, while building long-term relationships with Syrian customers.

Motor Show 2026 opened on Thursday at the Damascus New Fairgrounds with the participation of 48 local and international companies showcasing new vehicles, maintenance technologies, and road safety initiatives designed to support the development of Syria’s automotive sector and encourage investment.
