Two oil tankers hit by projectile and blast off Oman coast, UK agency says

London, Aug 1 (SANA)TheUK Maritime Trade Operations(UKMTO) announced on Saturday that an explosion occurred near anoil tanker21 nautical miles northeast ofKhasab,Oman.According to UKMTO, the vessel’s master reported hearing a blast and observing a strong impact close to the tanker. No damage was reported.Earlier on Saturday, UKMTO said another oil tanker was struck by an unidentified projectile 11 nautical miles northeast ofLima PortoffOman’s coast.The agency said the impact caused significant damage to the vessel’s engine room, resulting in a loss of control and maneuverability. The report was submitted by the operating company’s security officer. No injuries or environmental damage were recorded, and regional coast guard authorities were notified.UKMTO urged vessels transiting the area to exercise heightened caution and report any suspicious activity.The incidents come amid escalating concerns over maritime security in regional waterways, particularly theRed Seaand the Gulf of Oman, according to the report.These developments have heightened international concerns over the safety of key maritime corridors and the stability of global energy and trade flows.
