Damascus, Aug. 1 (SANA)TheSyrian National Libraryhas launched the first issue of “Heritage and Libraries Journal,” a semi-annual, specialized peer-reviewed academic publication dedicated toheritage studiesand library and information sciences, enabling researchers to publish studies in accordance with international academic standards.The journal was launched as part of theMinistry of Culture’s project to develop scientific research and academic publishing, connect Syrian heritage with modern methodologies, and strengthen the Syrian National Library’s role in knowledge production and preservation of national memory.Editor-in-Chief Majd Abdel Majeed Qamar said the journal represents a new phase in the library’s mission, describing it as a knowledge project aimed at transforming the library from a repository of heritage into an active institution for knowledge production and a platform for researchers.The first issue includes peer-reviewed studies covering literature, rhetoric, heritage authentication, Islamic thought, library and information sciences, smart data management, intercultural dialogue, and comparative historical studies.The journal welcomes original research papers in Arabic and English from researchers at universities and academic and research institutions, as well as independent researchers. It covers fields including tangible and intangible heritage studies, manuscript authentication, heritage text analysis, and library and information sciences.The publication adopts a double-blind peer-review system and follows the Chicago Manual of Style, 17th edition (CMoS-17), for references, while adhering to scientific publishing ethics and providing free electronic access to its research papers and content.The Syrian National Library said the journal will contribute to ensuring the continuity of scientific production and its availability to researchers and future generations, while strengthening communication between researchers and academic institutions.
