The memorandum was signed following the meeting between Akmal Jumanazarov, Director of the Uzbek Agency for Technical Regulation, and Nick Weatherill, CEO of BCI.
During the talks, the parties discussed prospects for developing Uzbekistan’s cotton and textile industry, expanding the application of international environmental and social standards, strengthening cooperation with cotton and textile clusters, and introducing modern production technologies based on respect for the environment.
Special attention was paid to improving the entire production chain, from the cultivation of raw cotton to the production of finished textiles, in accordance with international requirements. According to the participants, this will improve product quality and strengthen their competitiveness in the global market.
In addition, the parties highlighted the key role of international standards and conformity assessment mechanisms in expanding export opportunities for the Uzbek cotton and textile industry, facilitating access to foreign markets for domestic products, and removing technical barriers to international trade.
