The images arriving from Ceuta have demonstrated once again how urgent a European response to illegal immigration is. For this reason, Italy has promoted, together with Denmark, a letter signed by 22 Member States of the European Union, which calls for common action to strengthen external borders, combat irregular immigration, fight human traffickers, make repatriations more effective and eliminate any factor that could incentivize new illegal entries. It is an important signal: the line that Italy has supported for some time is now shared by an ever-increasing number of European nations. Le immagini arrivate da Ceuta hanno dimostrato ancora una volta quanto sia urgente una risposta europea all’immigrazione clandestina. Per questo l’Italia ha promosso, insieme alla Danimarca, una lettera sottoscritta da 22 Stati membri dell’Unione europea, che chiede un’azione comune per rafforzare le frontiere esterne, contrastare l’immigrazione irregolare, combattere i trafficanti di esseri umani, rendere più efficaci i rimpatri ed eliminare ogni fattore che possa incentivare nuovi ingressi illegali. È un segnale importante: la linea che l’Italia sostiene da tempo è oggi condivisa da un numero sempre maggiore di Nazioni europee.
