Rome, Aug 1 (SANA)A magnitude 4.7earthquakestruck the Campi Flegrei area near the southern Italian city ofNapleson Friday, injuring 10 people and causing material damage.

The National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology said on X that the quake was centered in the Campi Flegrei area west of Naples, at a depth of about three kilometers.

Italy’s Civil Protection Department said the earthquake caused 10 injuries, the collapse of several unoccupied buildings and power outages in a number of areas.

Local officials said rail and metro services were suspended as a precaution.

Last June, a 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Calabria in southern Italy, with no injuries reported.
