Doha, July 31 (SANA)Qatar andPalestineon Thursday condemned a drone attack that set fire to two liquefied natural gas (LNG) vessels at Egypt’sDamietta port, calling it a violation of international law and a threat to regional security and global energy supplies.

In a statement posted on X,Qatar‘s foreign ministry said it “categorically rejects” attacks on critical infrastructure and called for de-escalation to prevent further instability in the region.It reaffirmed Qatar’s solidarity withEgyptand its support for measures taken by Cairo to protect the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

In a separate statement, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates expressed full solidarity with Egypt’s leadership, government and people, saying any attack on the country’s sovereignty or security undermines regional peace and stability and violates international law.

The statements came after Egypt’s cabinet said on Thursday that a fire aboard two vessels at Damietta port on Wednesday had been caused by a drone.

Earlier, maritime security firm Ambrey reported that aU.S.-owned LNG carrier had been struck while berthed at the Mediterranean port, while port services provider Inchcape said fires had broken out on two LNG vessels inside the port.
