Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi : The 43rd anniversary of the Ba’athist regime’s genocide against the Barzanis, committed as part of its campaign against the Kurdish national movement, remains deeply etched in the memory of the Iraqi people in general and the Kurdish people in particular. It formed part of a broader campaign of repression aimed at crushing identity, filling the land with mass graves, and spreading fear. Yet, in the end, these crimes failed to break the will of the Iraqi people, who stood united in rejecting tyranny and dictatorship. As we extend our condolences to our Kurdish people and to the leadership of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, foremost among them Mr. Masoud Barzani, on this painful anniversary, we also express our profound appreciation for those great sacrifices. Together with the sacrifices made by Iraqis from all components of society, they paved the way for the dawn of freedom and the establishment of our federal democratic system, under which all citizens enjoy constitutional rights, dignity, and respect.
