SNS inicia remozamiento del Hospital Salvador B. Gautier con inversión cercana a mil millones de pesos
Santo Domingo.– The executive director of the National Health Service (SNS), Dr. Julio Landrón, led the first ceremony that marks the beginning of the first stage of the renovation of the Salvador B. Gautier Hospital, an intervention with an investment close to one billion pesos that seeks to transform one of the main reference hospitals in the country.
During the event, Landrón highlighted that the work is part of President Luis Abinader's commitment to strengthening the Public Health Services Network and will allow the hospital to be provided with modern infrastructure, state-of-the-art technology and adequate spaces to offer more timely, safe and humanized care.
"Today we take a momentous step for the Salvador B. Gautier Hospital. After more than seven decades providing services to patients, we began a transformation that will guarantee a center with all the conditions so that the medical and administrative staff can provide higher quality care," he said.
The head of the SNS recalled that four months ago he announced the project during a tour of the hospital center and stated that the start of work demonstrates the Government's will to turn each commitment made to the population into reality.
"At that time some doubted and thought that this project would not be possible. However, today we demonstrate that in the government of President Luis Abinader there is will, planning and commitment to the health of the people," he said.
Landrón explained that the comprehensive renovation of the Salvador B. Gautier Hospital will be developed between stages, allowing services to remain operational while the works are carried out.
The first phase includes the construction of a new Emergency area with capacity for more than 30 stretchers fully equipped with monitors and interconnected technology, in addition to a modern shock trauma unit with four beds, triage area, Emergency laboratory, imaging services with tomograph, X-ray equipment, sonographs, sonodoppler, hyperbaric chamber and two operating rooms for emergency procedures.
The intervention also includes the renovation of the laboratory, consultation, surgery, surgical intensive care areas and the adaptation of the environment of the intervened areas, while the hospitalization rooms will be progressively conditioned.
The director of the SNS assured that the process has been carefully planned to guarantee the continuity of health services without affecting patient care.
He indicated that during the work, alternate spaces were enabled within the hospital and a reference system was designed to other centers of the Public Health Network, especially the Dr. Luis Eduardo Aybar Health City, which has more than 250 beds, clinical-surgical and maternal and child hospitals, intensive care units, cardiovascular services and high-tech diagnostic equipment.
"The transformation of the Salvador B. Gautier Hospital will not leave the population unprotected; on the contrary, it will strengthen the entire Public Health Network and guarantee that citizens continue to receive the care they deserve," he stated.
Landrón maintained that the start of work represents much more than an infrastructure intervention.
"Today we begin a work that transcends concrete and steel. We are building hope, dignity and better opportunities for those who most need an efficient health system," he expressed.
The doctor thanked the medical, nursing, bioanalysis, administrative and support staff for their commitment and called on them to accompany the hospital's transformation process.

El titular del SNS recordó que hace cuatro meses anunció el proyecto durante un recorrido por el centro hospitalario y afirmó que el inicio de los trabajos demuestra lavoluntad del Gobierno de convertir en realidad cada compromiso asumido con la población. "En ese momento algunos dudaron y pensaron que este proyecto no sería posible. Sin embargo, hoy demostramos que en el gobierno del presidente Luis Abinader existe voluntad, planificación y compromiso con la salud del pueblo",manifestó. Landrón explicó que elremozamiento integraldel Hospital Salvador B. Gautier se desarrollará entres etapas, permitiendo mantener enfuncionamientolos servicios mientras se ejecutan las obras. Laprimera fasecontempla la construcción de unanueva área de Emergenciascon capacidad para más de 30 camillas completamente equipadas con monitores y tecnología interconectada, además de una moderna unidad de trauma shock con cuatro camas, área de triaje, laboratorio de Emergencias, servicios de imágenes con tomógrafo, equipos de rayos X, sonógrafos, sonodoppler, cámara hiperbárica y dos quirófanos destinados a procedimientos de urgencia. La intervención también incluye el remozamiento de las áreas de laboratorio, consultas, cirugía, cuidados intensivos quirúrgicos y la adecuación del entorno de las áreas intervenidas, mientras que de forma progresiva serán acondicionadas las salas de internamiento. El director del SNS aseguró queel proceso ha sido cuidadosamente planificadopara garantizar lacontinuidad de los serviciosde saludsin afectar la atención de los pacientes. Indicó que durante los trabajos fueron habilitadosespacios alternosdentro del hospital y diseñado unsistema de referencia hacia otros centrosde la Red Pública de Salud, especialmente la Ciudad Sanitaria Dr. Luis Eduardo Aybar, que dispone de más de 250 camas, hospitales clínico-quirúrgico y materno infantil, unidades de cuidados intensivos, servicios cardiovasculares y equipos diagnósticos de alta tecnología. "La transformación del Hospital Salvador B. Gautier no dejará desprotegida a la población; por el contrario, fortalecerá toda la Red Pública de Salud y garantizará que los ciudadanos continúen recibiendo la atención que merecen",afirmó.
