Presidente Abinader convoca al Consejo Nacional de la Magistratura para este lunes
Santo Domingo.-President Luis Abinader convened the National Council of the Judiciary for this Monday, August 3, 2026, at 5:00 in the afternoon, at the National Palace.
At the moment, there are no more details about the call, but it is recalled that since last April the term of eleven judges of the Supreme Court of Justice ended, including the presiding judge, Luis Henry Molina, as well as the current presidents of the three chambers of the Supreme Court of Justice: Justiniano Montero, presiding judge of the First Chamber; Francisco Antonio Jerez Mena, presiding judge of the Second Chamber, and Manuel Ramón Herrera Carbuccia, presiding judge of the Third Chamber. In accordance with the constitutional mandate, it is up to these judges and seven others to be evaluated by the National Council of the Judiciary, with the purpose of determining their confirmation or not.
The National Council of the Judiciary is governed by the Constitution of the Republic and by Law No. 138-11, Organic of the CNM, and is composed as follows:
· Luis Abinader: president of the Republic and the CNM.
· Ricardo de los Santos: president of the Senate.
· Alfredo Pacheco: president of the Chamber of Deputies.
· Omar Fernández: senator representing the second majority.
· Tobías Crespo: deputy representing the second majority.
· Luis Henry Molina: president of the Supreme Court of Justice.
· Nancy Salcedo: judge of the Supreme Court of Justice, who serves as secretary of the CNM.
· Napoleón Estévez: president of the Constitutional Court.
