In the Los Naranjos patio of the Government House, the President highlighted the work of the Foreign Ministry to begin reestablishing relations between both nations. "First of all, I want to thank our Minister of Foreign Affairs and the entire Foreign Ministry team who, in a serious way, in a methodical manner, have achieved this transcendent agreement that allows us to advance step by step in the normalization of relations between Chile and Venezuela. Likewise, I want to value the disposition of the Venezuelan government and greet the President in charge, Delcy Rodríguez, for the willingness to move forward on this joint roadmap. Starting today, Chile and Venezuela begin a new stage, which will allow us to advance on tremendous challenges that we have as countries on the same continent. Challenges that speak of security, migration and economic development," said the head of state. In this first stage, both countries have agreed to reactivate consular relations, as an initial step towards the full resumption of bilateral ties and with the purpose of ensuring protection and services. consular services in favor of their compatriots residing in both countries.

En el patio de Los Naranjos de la casa de Gobierno, el Mandatario destacó el trabajo de la Cancillería para comenzar a restablecer las relaciones entre ambas naciones."En primer lugar, quiero agradecerle a nuestro Ministro de Relaciones Exteriores y a todo el equipo de la Cancillería que, de una manera seria, de una manera metódica, han logrado este acuerdo trascendente que nos permite avanzar paso a paso en la normalización de las relaciones entre Chile y Venezuela. Asimismo, quiero valorar la disposición del gobierno venezolano y saludar a la Presidenta encargada, Delcy Rodríguez, por la disposición a avanzar en esta hoja de ruta conjunta. A partir de hoy, Chile y Venezuela comienzan una nueva etapa, que nos va a permitir avanzar en tremendos desafíos que tenemos como países en un mismo continente. Desafíos que hablan de seguridad, de migración y de desarrollo económico", señaló el jefe de Estado.En esta primera etapa, ambos países han acordado reactivar las relaciones consulares, como paso inicial hacia la reanudación plena de los vínculos bilaterales y con el propósito de asegurar la protección y los servicios consulares en favor de sus connacionales que residen en ambos países.
