The Leader of Uzbekistan noted that the current state visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Kyrgyzstan was historic and marked the beginning of a new chapter in multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.

It was highlighted that thorough joint preparations were made for the current summit. Successful meetings included the Intergovernmental Commission, a business forum, and gatherings of university rectors and analysts. Additionally, Kyrgyzstan is hosting events as part of the Days of Culture of Uzbekistan during this period.

On this occasion, the President of Uzbekistan sincerely congratulated brotherly Kyrgyzstan on its election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2027-2028, describing it as recognition of the country’s growing international standing and of the voice of Central Asia as a whole.

The outcome of today’s discussions, conducted in a traditionally open, constructive, and amicable environment, was received with much satisfaction.

The leaders extensively reviewed the entire range of current bilateral issues and listened to reports from the Deputy Prime Ministers, who presented detailed plans in trade and economic matters.

The summit’s primary achievement was the signing of the Treaty on Allied Relations.

It was highlighted that this document signifies the advancement of the bilateral partnership to the most elevated stage of interstate cooperation.

“Now our main task is to give our cooperation new substance through projects and initiatives that will advance the progress and well-being of our countries and peoples”, the Head of State noted.

An agreement was reached to establish an Interstate Council chaired by the presidents of the two countries, which will serve as the primary mechanism for implementing allied relations and determining long-term cooperation priorities.

The parties also reaffirmed their readiness to deepen political dialogue, offer mutual support, and coordinate their positions closely at regional and international forums.

Particular attention was paid to shaping a new economic agenda. In recent years, bilateral trade has increased almost tenfold, reaching $1.2 billion at the end of last year. Considering the continued strong momentum, the target has been set to raise this figure to $2 billion as early as next year.

The leaders separately focused on creating new growth points in industrial cooperation, primarily in sectors where the two countries’ economies complement each other.

Thus, during the business forum held the previous day, new projects were agreed upon in the fields of energy, electrical engineering, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and the textile industry. In addition, specific plans were outlined for joint extraction of raw materials.

The potential of the Joint Development Fund will be effectively used to support such projects.

Priority attention was given to developing transport connectivity and the transit potential of the two countries. The successful progress of the strategic China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan railway construction project was noted.

An agreement was reached to jointly develop trade and logistics infrastructure along this railway, actively introduce digital solutions into trade and transport processes, and create favorable conditions for road carriers.

Cooperation in the water and energy sectors was also discussed separately.

The parties reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing cooperation in the efficient use of transboundary water resources. Additionally, they will expedite the signing of the Agreement on the construction of the Kambarata Hydropower Plant.

The need to actively use the potential of the two countries’ regions was emphasized. The first Forum of Regions in a new format will be held in Uzbekistan by the end of the year.

The parties reaffirmed their readiness to continue active exchanges in the fields of culture, education, science, youth policy, and tourism.

The leaders also discussed in detail issues related to sustainable development and strengthening regional cooperation in Central Asia.

In conclusion, Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed confidence that the agreements reached at the current summit would strengthen friendship, good-neighborliness, and allied relations between the two fraternal peoples.
