Vicepresidenta Raquel Peña destaca apuesta del presidente Abinader por el desarrollo de las provincias como base del crecimiento nacional
La Vega.- Vice President Raquel Peña highlighted this Thursday that President Luis Abinader's vision is committed to the comprehensive development of the provinces as the basis of national growth, through policies aimed at strengthening productive capacities, generating opportunities and reducing territorial gaps.
During the opening ceremony of the thirtieth edition of Expo Vega Real 2026, under the motto: “The sporting and commercial heart of the country beats in La Vega”, dedicated to the Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz, and held at the Country Club of La Vega, Peña stated that this commitment translates into concrete actions aimed at promoting the national productive sector.
He explained that, under the leadership of President Abinader, the Government continues to expand access to financing for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), strengthening technical training, promoting programs that prepare human talent for jobs of the present and the future, and developing infrastructure that improves competitiveness and facilitates economic activity.
The vice president highlighted that La Vega represents an example of the productive potential of the Dominican provinces, having more than 15,400 MSMEs that boost the local economy, strengthen value chains and generate opportunities for thousands of families.
Likewise, he highlighted that national economic development requires boosting the capabilities of each territory and creating conditions so that entrepreneurs, companies and workers can grow and contribute to the country's progress.
Peña pointed out that more than 90 impact works have been carried out in La Vega, including infrastructure projects that contribute to improving connectivity and expanding regional development opportunities.
During his speech, he announced that President Abinader authorized the opening of a new center of the National Institute of Professional Technical Training (Infotep) in the old Inespre facilities, an initiative that will expand the technical and professional training of young people and workers in the province.
The official also valued the alliance between the Government, the private sector and citizens as an essential element to achieve sustainable economic growth, and recognized the work of the Chamber of Commerce and Production of La Vega Real for maintaining a platform that promotes trade, investment and entrepreneurship for 30 years.
Expo Vega Real 2026, which is developed under the motto “30 years promoting the development of our people”, expects to receive more than 250,000 visitors and is consolidated as a space to strengthen productive chains, promote innovation and connect Dominican talent with new growth opportunities.
Odil Morilla highlights the Government's support for development and the vision of national growth
The president of the La Vega Chamber of Commerce and Production, Odil Morilla, valued the vision of President Abinader's government to promote national development and highlighted the importance of strengthening the alliance between the public and private sectors to generate greater opportunities.
Morillo highlighted initiatives aimed at promoting education, innovation, technology, productivity and sustainability, as pillars to increase competitiveness and strengthen the productive capacities of the provinces.
Likewise, he recognized the commitment of Vice President Raquel Peñay of the Government to dialogue and joint work with the productive sectors, highlighting that this collaboration is essential to continue building a country with more development and well-being.
Icelsa García highlights economic and business growth in La Vega
The president of the organizing committee of Expo Vega Real 2026, Icelsa García, highlighted the 30 years of history of this fair as a space that promotes trade, training and promotion of large and small companies in the province.
García highlighted the growth of vegan trade in sectors such as agriculture, agro-industrial, free zones, health, technology, real estate and commerce in general, while valuing the role of the Chamber of Commerce and Production of La Vega in strengthening local economic development.

The distinction was received, on behalf of the president, by Vice President Raquel Peña, highlighting the Government's commitment to institutions, the public-private alliance and initiatives that strengthen the country's competitiveness and progress.
Kelvin Cruz is recognized for his legacy as Minister of Sports and Recreation
At the event, engineer Kelvin Cruz was awarded a recognition for his valuable contributions to the municipality and his legacy as Minister of Sports and Recreation.
Expo Vega 2026 also recognized the companies that have supported this event uninterruptedly: Alaver, Banco Popular, Induveca, Mercasid, Ministry of Agriculture, Baltimore Dominicana, Farmacia El Sol, Claro, Cervecería Vegana, Cervecería Nacional Dominicana and Industrias Banilejas.
