Poland deploys fighter jets over Lublin after Russian strikes on Ukraine

Moscow, July 30 (SANA)Poland deployed additional fighter jets to secure its airspace on Thursday following continued Russian airstrikes on Ukraine, the Polish Armed Forces announced.

Reuters quoted thePolish Armed Forces,a member of the European Union andNATO, as saying that all necessary measures had been taken to protect the country’s airspace.

Meanwhile, police in Poland’s Lublin region, near the Ukrainian border, said they had received a report of a loud explosion in the Biłgoraj area.

Authorities found a crater and debris from an unidentified object scattered across a field, while investigations into the incident continued.

On Wednesday, the Ukrainian military said it had targeted the Ryazan oil refinery inRussia. The Russian Defense Ministry, meanwhile, said its forces had targeted Ukrainian ports and vessels in Mykolaiv, Odesa and Chornomorsk, claiming that military equipment storage facilities and fuel tanks had been destroyed.

On May 24, the Polish military said its air force had been placed on maximum alert and had begun intensive patrol flights over Polish airspace following Russian missile attacks onUkraine.

On May 27, Poland and theUnited Kingdomannounced plans to sign a defense treaty amid growing European concerns over potential Russian threats.
