ඓතිහාසික රුහුණු කතරගම මහා දේවාලයේ වාර්ෂික ඇසළ පෙරහර මංගල්‍යයේ අවසන් මහා පෙරහර නැරඹීමට දහස් සංඛ්‍යාත ජනතාව සමඟ ඊයේ (29) එක්වීමි. මෙහිදී, ඓතිහාසික කිරිවෙහෙර අභියස පැවති ආගමික වතාවත්වලට ද සහභාගි වී ආශිර්වාද ලබා ගතිමි. ඕනෑම රටක සංවර්ධනයේදී ඒ රට සහ සමාජය ගොඩනැඟුණු ඓතිහාසික සංස්කෘතිකමය පදනම වැදගත් බවත්, අපේ රට ඉදිරියට යා යුතු වන්නේ රටේ ඓතිහාසික පවුරු පදනම් ආරක්ෂා කර ගනිමින් බවත් අනතුරුව පැවති උත්සව සභාව අමතමින් පෙන්වා දුන්නෙමි. එම ඓතිහාසික සංස්කෘතික උරුමය සහ මාතෘභූමිය සමඟ ජනතාවගේ ඓන්ද්‍රීය සබඳතාව පෙන්නුම් කරන ඉතාමත් වැදගත් අවස්ථාවක් ලෙස මෙම ඓතිහාසික රුහුණු කතරගම මහා දේවාලයේ වාර්ෂික ඇසළ පෙරහර මංගල්‍යය හඳුන්වා දිය හැකි බව සඳහන් කළෙමි. එමෙන්ම, රටේ සියලු ජන කොටස් එකම පුද බිමකට කැඳවන මෙම අවස්ථාව අපේ රටේ අනන්‍යතාව මෙන්ම ජාතික සමගිය ද පෙන්නුම් කරන අවස්ථාවක් බවත් පෙන්වා දුන්නෙමි. මෙම ඓතිහාසික කාර්යභාරය වෙනුවෙන් මගපෙන්වීම සිදු කළ කිරිවෙහෙර රජමහා විහාරාධිපති පූජ්‍ය කොබවක ධම්මින්ද නායක හිමිපාණන් වහන්සේටත්, මීට දායකත්වය ලබා දුන් බස්නායක නිලමේවරයා ඇතුලු සියලුදෙනා වෙතත් කෘතවේදීත්වය පළ කළෙමි. வரலாற்றுச் சிறப்புமிக்க ருஹுணு கதிர்காம மகா தேவாலயத்தின் வருடாந்த எசல பெரஹராவின் இறுதிப் பெரஹராவைக் காண்பதற்காக ஆயிரக்கணக்கான மக்களுடன் நேற்று (29) இணைந்து கொண்டேன். இதன்போது, வரலாற்றுச் சிறப்புமிக்க கிரிவெஹெர விகாரைக்கு அருகில் இடம்பெற்ற மத வழிபாடுகளிலும் கலந்துகொண்டு ஆசிர்வாதம் பெற்றுக் கொண்டேன். எந்தவொரு நாட்டின் வளர்ச்சியிலும் அந்த நாடும் சமூகமும் கட்டமைக்கப்பட்ட வரலாற்று ரீதியான கலாசார அடித்தளம் முக்கியமானதாகும் என்றும், நமது நாடு முன்னோக்கிச் செல்ல வேண்டியது நாட்டின் வரலாற்றுச் சுவடுகளையும் அடித்தளங்களையும் பாதுகாத்துக் கொள்வதன் மூலமே என்றும் அதன் பின்னர் நடைபெற்ற நிகழ்வில் உரையாற்றும் போது சுட்டிக்காட்டினேன். அந்த வரலாற்றுச் கலாசார பாரம்பரியத்திற்கும் தாய்நாட்டுக்கும் இடையிலான மக்களின் இயற்கையான தொடர்பைக் காட்டும் மிக முக்கியமான சந்தர்ப்பமாக இந்த வரலாற்றுச் சிறப்புமிக்க ருஹுனு கதிர்காம மகா தேவாலயத்தின் வருடாந்த எசல பெரஹராவை அடையாளப்படுத்தலாம் எனக் குறிப்பிட்டேன். அத்துடன், நாட்டின் அனைத்து இன மக்களையும் ஒரே புனிதஸ்தலத்தில் ஒன்றிணைக்கும் இந்த வரலாற்றுச் சிறப்புமிக்க நிகழ்வு, நமது நாட்டின் தேசிய தனித்துவத்தையும் தேசிய ஒற்றுமையையும் பிரதிபலிக்கும் ஒரு சந்தர்ப்பமாகும் என்பதையும் சுட்டிக்காட்டினேன். இந்த வரலாற்றுப் பணிக்காக வழிகாட்டல்களை வழங்கிய கிரிவெஹெர ரஜமகா விகாராதிபதிவண. கொபவக்க தம்மிந்த நாயக்க தேரருக்கும், இதற்குப் பங்களிப்புச் செய்த பஸ்நாயக்க நிலமே உள்ளிட்ட அனைவருக்கும் எனது நன்றியைத் தெரிவித்தேன். Joined thousands of devotees yesterday (29) to witness the final grand procession of the annual Esala Perahera of the historic Ruhunu Kataragama Maha Devalaya. During the visit, I also participated in religious observances held at the historic Kirivehera and received blessings. Addressing the gathering held afterwards, I emphasised that the historical and cultural foundations upon which a country and its society are built play a vital role in national development. I noted that Sri Lanka must continue its journey of progress while safeguarding its rich historical heritage. Also stated that the annual Esala Perahera of the historic Ruhunu Kataragama Maha Devalaya is a significant occasion that reflects the enduring connection between the people, their cultural heritage and the motherland. Further highlighted that this historic event, which brings together people from all communities at a shared place of worship, reflects Sri Lanka’s national identity and the spirit of national unity. I also expressed my gratitude to the Chief Incumbent of the Kirivehera Rajamaha Viharaya, Most Venerable Kobawaka Dhamminda Nayaka Thero, for his guidance in preserving this historic tradition and extended my appreciation to the Basnayake Nilame and all those who contributed to the successful organisation of the Perahera.
