Official Statement ••••• Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi hosted today, Wednesday, July 29, 2026, an emergency meeting of the Coordination Framework at the Government Palace to discuss the U.S.-Saudi acts of aggression against Iraq’s sovereignty. The Coordination Framework condemned the aggression that targeted Iraqi territory and resulted in the martyrdom of a number of service members of the Popular Mobilization Commission and the injury of others, in flagrant violation of Iraq’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and contrary to the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations. The Coordination Framework expressed surprise that such an attack occurred at a time when the government is pursuing a balanced foreign policy based on building relations of cooperation and partnership with its regional neighbors and the international community. The Coordination Framework extended its sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the martyrs and wished the wounded a speedy recovery. It affirmed that any violation of or infringement upon Iraq’s security and sovereignty is unacceptable under any circumstances, while rejecting any attempt to turn Iraq into an arena for regional and international conflicts. The Coordination Framework further affirmed that the attacks that targeted Iraq and violated its sovereignty do not serve regional and international efforts aimed at containing the crisis and de-escalating tensions.
