SNS afirma que los XXV Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe evidencian capacidad de respuesta de la Red Pública de Salud
Santo Domingo.– The executive director of the National Health Service (SNS), Dr. Julio César Landrón, stated that the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games demonstrate the response capacity of the Public Health Network, thanks to a hospital infrastructure, specialized personnel, technology and effective inter-institutional coordination that allow timely and free assistance to be offered to athletes, delegations, visitors and the general population.
During a television interview, Landrón explained that the SNS made the entire Public Health Network available to the sporting event, made up of more than 200 hospitals, 1,710 Primary Care Units (UNAP) and nearly 89,000 collaborators, with the purpose of guaranteeing permanent medical assistance in each of the competition venues.
The official highlighted that, by order of President Luis Abinader, the Dominican State offers free medical care to athletes, their companions and family members, regardless of whether or not they have international medical insurance.
Likewise, he pointed out that the Dr. Luis Eduardo Aybar Health City constitutes the main reference center for the health operation, concentrating highly complex hospitals and a multidisciplinary team made up of neurosurgeons, orthopedists, sports medicine specialists, intensivists and other professionals prepared to respond to any medical eventuality.
He explained that the operation also has specialized diagnostic studies, including magnetic resonance imaging when injuries require it, in addition to maintaining permanent coordination with the National Emergency Care and Security System 9-1-1 for the timely transfer of patients.
Landrón reported that more than 500 doctors participate in the health operation deployed in Santo Domingo, Santiago, Bonao, La Vega, Moca, Cabarete, Punta Arena and the other locations where the competitions take place.
He added that the SNS enabled a hospital in the Central American Village to provide immediate assistance to the athletes and guarantee, together with the anti-doping control unit, compliance with the protocols established by the sports federations and the doctors of each delegation.
For his part, Dr. José Joaquín Puello Herrera indicated that the main medical attention corresponds to trauma injuries typical of sports activity, in addition to some cases of high blood pressure, headaches and appendicitis.
Puello assured that the Dominican Republic has the necessary clinical, medical and operational capacity to respond to any situation that may arise during the celebration of the Games.
Finally, Landrón maintained that the health operation implemented for the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games reflects the strengthening of the Public Health Network and confirms that the national health system responds efficiently thanks to its hospital infrastructure, specialized personnel, technology and inter-institutional coordination.

Explicó que el operativo también dispone deestudios diagnósticos especializados, entre ellos resonancias magnéticas cuando las lesiones lo requieren, además de mantenercoordinación permanente con el Sistema Nacional de Atención a Emergencias y Seguridad 9-1-1para el traslado oportuno de pacientes. Landrón informó quemás de 500 médicosparticipan en el operativo sanitario desplegado enSanto Domingo, Santiago, Bonao, La Vega, Moca, Cabarete, Punta Arenay las demás sedes donde se desarrollan lascompetencias. Agregó que el SNS habilitóun hospital en la Villa Centroamericanapara brindarasistencia inmediataa los atletas y garantizar, junto con la unidad decontrol antidopaje, el cumplimiento de losprotocolos establecidospor las federaciones deportivas y los médicos de cada delegación. De su lado, el doctorJosé Joaquín Puello Herrera, indicó que las principales atenciones médicas corresponden alesiones traumatológicaspropias de la actividad deportiva, además de algunos casos dehipertensión arterial, cefaleas y una apendicitis. Puello aseguró que la República Dominicana cuenta con lacapacidad clínica, médica y operativanecesaria para responder a cualquier situación que pueda presentarse durante la celebración de los Juegos. Finalmente, Landrón sostuvo que el operativo sanitario implementado para los XXV Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe refleja el fortalecimiento de la Red Pública de Salud y confirma queel sistema sanitario nacional responde con eficienciagracias a su infraestructura hospitalaria, personal especializado, tecnología y coordinación interinstitucional.
