Ministro de Turismo firma acuerdo con la ITF para impulsar la movilidad turística sostenible
Punta Cana.- Behind every experience that a tourist lives in the Dominican Republic there are thousands of men and women who make their journey through the country possible. Chauffeurs, transport operators, tour drivers and workers in the sector are an essential part of the tourism value chain.
With this recognition, the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, and the International Transport Workers Federation (ITF) signed a memorandum of cooperation this Wednesday to promote safer, more efficient and sustainable tourist mobility, placing at the center those who connect visitors with the country's destinations every day.
The agreement, signed together with the ITF general secretary, Stephen Cotton, during the meeting of the National Caribbean Coordinating Committee (NCC), seeks to promote the exchange of international knowledge, experiences and good practices that strengthen land transportation as a fundamental component of Dominican tourism.
The initiative contemplates technical cooperation actions to raise the standards of safety, quality, innovation and sustainability in transportation services linked to tourism activity, for the benefit of those who work in the sector as well as the millions of visitors the country receives each year.
"When we strengthen our transporters, we strengthen the entire tourist experience of the Dominican Republic. They are the first welcome and many times the last memory that a visitor takes from our country," said Minister David Collado.
The official highlighted that this agreement represents an opportunity to continue professionalizing the sector, incorporating best international practices and recognizing the fundamental role played by thousands of workers in the success of national tourism.
As part of the ceremony, the ITF recognized Minister Collado for his leadership in promoting sustainable tourism and for promoting greater cooperation between the tourism and transport sectors.
In thanking him for the distinction, Collado stated that the recognition belongs to all Dominicans and, especially, to the thousands of transportation workers who, with their daily efforts, contribute to the Dominican Republic continuing to consolidate itself as one of the most important tourist destinations in the world.
"This recognition is also for our transporters, for whom every day they receive visitors with professionalism, hospitality and pride. They are the ones who help millions of tourists get the best image of our country," concluded the minister.

Como parte de la ceremonia, la ITF entregó unreconocimiento al ministro Collado por su liderazgoen la promoción de un turismo sostenible y por impulsar una mayorcooperaciónentre los sectores del turismo y el transporte. Al agradecer la distinción, Collado afirmó que el reconocimiento pertenece a todos los dominicanos y, especialmente, a los miles de trabajadores del transporte que, con suesfuerzo diario, contribuyen a que República Dominicana continúe consolidándose como uno de los destinos turísticos más importantes del mundo. “Este reconocimiento también es para nuestros transportistas, para quienes cada día reciben a los visitantes con profesionalismo, hospitalidad y orgullo.
