Damascus, July 29 (SANA)Syrian Civil Defenseteams from the Emergency and Disaster Management Directorate inLatakiaProvince extinguished on Tuesday aforest firein Kabineh village after more than 10 hours of continuous work under extremely dangerous conditions.The Civil Defense said on its Telegram channel that the fire broke out during a mine-clearing operation by engineering units of the Ministry of Defense, resulting in the martyrdom of one ministry member and the injury of another. The blaze spread to nearby forests and reached Al-Jubb al-Ahmar village.Firefighting teams contained and extinguished the fire while mine-clearance teams secured contaminated areas and roads. Despite challenges posed by mines, explosive remnants of war, and strong winds, coordinated field operations brought the fire under control. Cooling and monitoring operations are continuing to prevent reignition.Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management Raed Al-Saleh said: “Thanks to God and to the perseverance of the field personnel from firefighting units and the Civil Defense, all fires in Masyaf, Al-Ghab Plain, and Kabineh Hill have been fully contained.”The Civil Defense also urged the public to help prevent wildfires by avoiding open flames in forests and agricultural fields, not discarding cigarette butts or glass bottles near vegetation, and safely removing dry grass instead of burning it.
