Sao Paulo, July 29 (SANA)Brazil forwardNeymarsaid that his international career has come to an end, confirming he no longer plans to play for the national team after Brazil’s Round of 16 exit from the2026 FIFA World Cup.The 34-year-old, Brazil’s all-time leading scorer, made the announcement late Tuesday after Santos’ 4-2 victory over Venezuela’s Universidad Central in the Copa Sudamericana.“I think my time with the national team is truly over,” Neymar told reporters. “I made history there, and I’m very happy about it. I experienced so many moments and gave everything I had. I always defended the yellow shirt, but I don’t think I want to continue anymore.”His comments confirmed remarks he made following Brazil’s 2-1 defeat to Norway inthe World Cup Round of 16 on July 5, when he suggested his international career had come to an end.Neymar came off the bench in that match and converted a stoppage-time penalty before telling Brazilian broadcaster GE TV: “I tried, I tried… and now it’s over.”The defeat marked Brazil’s earliest World Cup exit since 1990 and extended the five-time champions’ wait for a record sixth world title.Neymar featured in four World Cups and enjoyed a successful club career with Santos, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.
